All Teaching Experience

Youth & Teens Program, University of Washington

Instructional Assistant / June – August 2025; Seattle, Washington

  • Facilitated and assisted creative writing courses for ~30 students from the King County region aged 8 to 18.
  • Courses included English Language Learning students from China, Vietnam, and South Korea, as well as students with learning impairments.
  • Used diverse pedagogical styles, such as anti-racist and multimodality, to strengthen writing skills in students.
  • Effectively responded to parents/guardians’ communications and inquiries, resolved conflicts related to student behavior, and supported the lead instructor with classroom management in a fast-paced environment.

Program for Creative Writing, English, University of Washington

Predoctoral Instructor / Sept 2023 – June 2025; Seattle, Washington

  • Created and taught courses (ENGL131 and ENGL283) for twenty-three students two hours in length twice weekly. Courses included English Language Learning students.
  • Courses were synchronous and asynchronously taught. Office hours were completed on Zoom and in person.
  • Created lectures, discussions, and activities based on class readings and materials, including collaborative, structured creative writing workshops in accordance with program-provided outcomes.

Freelance (Care.com)

Academic/Test Prep Tutor / Aug 2021 – April 2022; Fort Collins, Colorado

  • Met one-on-one with middle school students (7th to 8th grade) twice per week for academic support or test prep in humanities and STEM subjects. 
  • Academic support included personalized feedback, individualized study guides. Study plans were discussed in conference and agreed upon with the student and parent(s).

Volunteer Work

Integrated PE, Fossil Ridge High School

High School Student Aide / January – June 2018; Fort Collins, Colorado

  • Worked one-on-one and in class sizes of ~30 students with learning disabilities in physical education activities.
  • The average ratio allowed 1-2 neurotypical high school student aides per special needs student.
  • Ensured exceptional PE experience by adapting activities to each student’s needs using diverse learning styles and successful collaboration with departmental aides and instructors.

Special Olympics Colorado

High School Volunteer / May 2016; May 2018; Fort Collins, Colorado

  • Served as liaison for student athletes (ages 5+) and their families; facilitated check-in/out, food and refreshments deliveries, lunch breaks, and photography.

  • Assisted counselors and instructors with one-week, all-day camps of ~30 students in preschool to high school in various camps, such as theatre, chess, and gymnastics.
