Editorial Services

After five years of university, grade school, and adult creative writing workshops, I’ve allowed those experiences of giving and receiving feedback on poems, essays, and stories to influence my approach to editing.

Since my first nonfiction creative writing workshop a night class at Front Range Community College in Spring 2020 I’ve reviewed poetry submissions and edited articles for Black Fox Literary Magazine, copywritten for psychiatry clinics and summer writing courses, and tutored 1-1 with students challenged with writing.

What you could expect from me:

  • Thoughtful, Appealing Ready-To-Publish Drafts — I research and take the time to understand your business/organization/event in order to produce the most consistent, on-brand written communications.
  • Streamlined Process — If you provide me with concrete deadlines (ex, “I need this posted every Tuesday”), I’ll make sure we draft, revise, and publish on an efficient, flexible timeline.
  • A Combination of Writing Skills & Technical Expertise — I am able to optimize and schedule posts for social media and websites/blogs, such as
    • Meta (Instagram/Facebook)
    • WordPress
    • Medium
    • Squarespace
    • Reddit
    • Tumblr
    • Twitter (or X) and BlueSky

I primarily use Google Suite (Gmail, Sheets, Drive, Slides) to work, collaborate, and store files.

Here’s how I can help:

Reader & Editor

Professional editing for writers developing works-in-progress, especially:

  • Creative Manuscripts — I can read and edit poetry, fiction, and nonfiction (memoir) pieces, chapbooks (20-50 pages), and/or complete manuscripts (60+ pages).
  • Academic Theses — I can provide notes, fact-checking, and editorial work for academic theses (15+ pages).
  • Series of Writing — I can edit and give feedback on several pieces of writing (such as articles, essays, letters, etc.), or a whole set of writing (that doesn’t fit into the “creative manuscript” or “thesis” category).

As an English major with reading and editorial experience, I would be able to thoroughly read, comb through for spelling and grammar suggestions, and write personalized feedback on your drafts.

The following tiers specify all that is included in the editorial process. Think of each tier as a level of editorial involvement (the Mini Read the least, Extensive Read the most).

  • Mini Read: Bullet-pointed editorial response for short works.
    • 1,000 – 5,000 words / 5-25 pages
  • Standard Read: A review of content, cohesiveness, grammar & spelling, and structure for poetic sequences, chapters, essays, and other written media.
    • 5-20 pages of long-form poetry
    • 10-30 pages of chapters
    • 10-30 pages of essay/memoir
    • Case-by-case basis for other written mediums
  • Extensive Read: Full editorial package of in-text comments/annotations and a detailed list of observations and suggestions.
    • 25 – 100 pages of poetry (full collection, series of chapbooks, or long-form)
    • 30 – 300 pages of fiction or nonfiction
    • Case-by-case basis for other written media

All writing shared would be completely confidentialit would not be shared or discussed with anyone without your permission.

Document Editing

For some reason, I love spending hours with boring, repetitive administrative and editorial/formatting tasks. Therefore, I’d be happy to take any projects off your hands.

“Document Editing” can mean:

  • Tedious formatting of “pdf to docx” conversions
    • Scripts/screenplays, scanned documents, and other layout needs
  • Information and/or data needing to be reformatted
    • These can be:
      • Screenshots of tables and graphs needing to be reformatted into an editable doc (e.g., vaccination records)
      • Academic transcripts
      • Legal and medical records
      • Information/data collection and recording needed for personal projects or hobbies

Rate: $100 – $300 per editing project, or sliding scale.
